I can think of more catchy Beatles pop songs than A Day In The Life.
This is confusing.
Plus it is bound to degenerate into a load of self-consciously 'cool' posters citing songs and performers nobody's ever heard of.

Bit before the last 50 years but Be My Baby - The Ronettes has to be considered if only for the fact it almost sent Brian Wilson mad, he was so besotted with the song
